EB60 Manual Transmission 3rd Gear Grinding When Cold RedLine MT-LV Gear Oil Fix (Scion tC2 / tC2.5)
🛒 Product link(s) at bottom of video description.
After I had my transmission worked on the first time, I started getting grinding in 3rd gear in the morning, especially when it was cold out. This was due to the gear oil used by the two shops that worked on it. Since the actual Toyota gear oil is impossible to find, I went with RedLine MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 synthetic gear oil to resolve my issue.

    So I have some questions. First, this works with a stock ECU? Second, would the crackle tune work with the manual model of the tC? Third, would I be able to just take my car into a tuning shop and have them do this? This seems like a lot of steps and I'd be afraid of messing something up. I daily drive my tC. Also, is the Toyota flash tool sperate software, or is it included in this software package? I have WeaponR headers, a TRD FRS muffler, and the TRD airbox. As of right now, the only thing installed is the TRD airbox, but before I commit, I want to know I'm not going to mess my car up. I am going mostly OEM Toyota parts with my car, but I just want some subtle crackles and pops, and maybe a touch more horsepower. Unfortunately, I'm all the way in Washington, so taking my car to you isn't an option. I want to know that I can do this without bricking my ECU after spending all that money.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13 5 днів тому

      Yes, this is meant to work with the factory ECU. A crackle tune will work with a manual, as I drive stick and created the tune for my car. If you have the software (it's just a single package) and adaptor or the shop already has it, then yes, they can flash the tune. Take note that you will destroy your secondary cat in the mid-pipe if you run a crackle tune. If you want to add power though, go for it! That's definitely something you want the shop to do. Alternatively, you could install a pretuned ECU. I have a review for one of them on my Channel, but I know there's a couple of companies out there that have, or at least had, tune ECUs for the tC.

    Hey I'm looking into upgrading the handling on my tC i am not flooded with cash but i was thinking about getting the TB mid chassis braces and the C-pillar brace. This is literally my EXACT issue. I was ready to give up on my transmission, and this video might have just saved me! The grinding happened AFTER the Toyota dealership did a transmission flush for me. My guess would be that they didn't have the exact fluid I needed and opted for another option that was "close enough". You are a life saver.

    • @VampyreX13
      @VampyreX13 Місяць тому

      @MalcomHeavy I read somewhere that the actual OEM fluid for the transmission is only available in Japan and hard to get ahold of, but Red Line works great as an alternative. Please post up your results once you change your fluid.

      @MalcomHeavy Місяць тому

      @VampyreX13 Will absolutely do. I'll post a video one I get the fluid and put some miles in with it. If you are interested, I'm currently editing a video on swapping seats while still retaining the factory rails. Should have it uploaded sometime tomorrow.

      @mw3isbetterthanmw22 That's a little strange. While these only really last about two years, they should be working great within that period. I was able to easily keep up on the twisting backroads with the Subaru car clubs whenever going on cruises, and they kept my tC planted stable on the road.

    Hi Derrick so im coming back to this video to ask if the header as long as you have had it has had any effect on the plastics in the engine bay since you have no shield on it. Im currently converting a CNT discontinued header into a Dezod Green copy so I am debating if I should just leave it as is, or ceramic painting the header to protect the plastics/connectors from the heat

    Really appreciate the video! I just finished the install and here's a few tips that weren't very clear, to me at least, in the video . 1. The bushings were not easy to push out for me. You need a pair of needle nose pliers and make sure you pull away from the all rubber side of the bushing. 2. This isn't the video hosts fault, but I blame the TRD instructions. For the U-Clip, pliers and a long screwdriver didn't do it for me. Instead, get a hammer and use the nail puller side to wedge u-clip out. 3. Make sure you install all the bolts correctly for the bracket extender. If you don't install them correctly and try to install it, you might have issues removing it like I did. Thanks again for making the video! It really helped and all my shifts are short and crisp now!.
